School Rules
RESPECT THE MAT
- Bow before stepping on and off the mats.
- No shoes on the mats – EVER.
- Keep food, drinks, and candy/gum off the mat area.
HYGIENE IS MANDATORY
- Arrive clean, nails trimmed, and with fresh gear.
- Gis and rash guards must be washed after every session.
- If you have any open cuts, skin infections, or illness – stay off the mats until cleared.
- No bare feet in the bathroom.
RESPECT YOUR COACHES & TEAMMATES
- Support your teammates.
- Always address coaches and instructors respectfully.
- Listen when instruction is given; avoid side conversations.
- Be a good training partner – control your ego and your pace.
SAFETY COMES FIRST
- Tap early, tap often, and respect the tap.
- No rough or reckless behavior.
- Techniques that risk injury or exceed your skill level must NOT be applied without supervision.
CONDUCT & DISCIPLINE
- Arrive on time, lined up, and ready when class begins.
- No profanity, arguing, or negative attitudes.
- Show humility in victory and composure in defeat.
EQUIPMENT & UNIFORM
- Remove all jewelry, piercings, and watches before training.
- When competing, wear approved BJJ Lifestyle Academy uniforms and gear.
- Belts must be tied properly and worn with respect.
RESPECT THE ACADEMY
- Keep locker rooms and training areas clean.
- Represent BJJ Lifestyle Academy with integrity on and off the mats.
- Disrespect, gossip, or drama will not be tolerated.
GROWTH & ATTITUDE
- Train hard, stay humble, and help others learn.
- Ask questions respectfully and stay open to correction.
- Remember: discipline, consistency, and gratitude define a true Jiu-Jitsu martial artist.
COMPETITION
- Make sure you wear the team logo on your uniform when competing.
- ALWAYS represent the academy with INTEGRITY!
