Squad Scraps Tournament Rules:
- Only white and blue belts are eligible to compete. Teams must have at least one white belt and one blue belt.
- Teams must have a combined weight of at least 750 lbs.
- Each match is submission-only with 6-minute rounds.
- The ref will flip a coin to determine which team fields their first player. After each match, the opposing team fields their player, alternating until all players have competed.
- If no submission occurs within the 6-minute round, it’s a draw, and both players exit the mat. The next players from each team will compete.
- The team with the most submissions wins. In case of a tie, each team will field one player for a 5-minute tiebreaker (submission-only or ref decision).
- No heel hooks.
- No slams. A 3-second hold above the waist will be reset standing to avoid slams.
- In the event of a draw in the final match, a 5-minute overtime round will occur. If still tied, one round of EBI overtime will determine the winner.
“Squad Scraps is a submission-only, team vs. team tournament style. The boys did great, earning 2nd place 🥈 for our team. Big thanks to 10th Planet Tanglefoot for organizing this awesome event and to my friends at Arnold BJJ for hosting. It’s amazing for our local BJJ community to have events like this, supporting each other in hopes of growing St. Louis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.”
